Yes, I am actually getting sick of people posting on spammy topics, when they know it will be locked. Now, I'm not trying to be a mod/tell the mods what to do etc, but I think there should be a bigger punishment than a warning, as people aren't learning. Also, people are saying "This topic should be locked" NO WAII! Jeebus! You know that, so why post?
But anyway, back to what I was saying, I know this isn't much of a suggestion, but what do you think? _________________ [Citation Needed] |

What are you defining as over-posting on a spam-worthy topic? _________________

Mmm, well I'm not too sure. Things that people KNOW are stupid, but post in them anyway. _________________ [Citation Needed] |

Well, sometimes someone posts a link and that's it, sometimes someone posts a link and says something funny, and a few people comment on that and sometimes the n00bs swarm it and it ends up with 7 pages before being locked. _________________

Yeah, but is there any POINT in posting a funny link, which leads to that sort of thing?
Not really. _________________ [Citation Needed] |

Not a funny link, someone usually gets round to posting a link.
It's just sometimes they say something funny and one or two people say something about that. _________________

Well, like the mods say, actually helping by redirecting to some other topic is fine.
It's just ones that go "YOU FAIL" and stuff like that. _________________ [Citation Needed] |

If done properly, those can be pretty funny. _________________

That isn't the point, though. _________________ [Citation Needed] |

I got a warning for doing it posting twice on a spammy topic once, and yet I've seen loads of people post about 5 times on loads of spammy threads and never receive warns.I learned my lesson though: Never give a crap about anyone or anything but yourself.
EDIT: By the way I agree. _________________ "Common citizens? Wisdom? Is this some kind of a joke?" - Kristoph Gavin

Meh.
It's no good when a spammy topic gathers up pages, or gets pointlessly spammed.
But you can't be too serious about it. _________________

The problem with this is it's a bit of a grey area; I mean as Donny said, somebody posts a link, also with a comment, which people then feel the need to respond to. The thread ends up with like two pages of posts, is it right to punish everybody who posted or just the first to start it? _________________

But that's an entirely different issue; what we're talking about is maintaining a spam topic for no reason even when the person knows it will be locked. _________________

It's not really harming anybody if they do post on a spammy topic, though it is annoying when they keep on doing it. |
