I think it would be good that when you look on your address book, if someone is on the forum, it says "On the Forum" What do you think?

it already is an options.
If a person chooses to "hide" their online status, wouldn't it show up on the address book?

Just use the user list at the bottom of the forum index; that already has the hide option programmed and otherwise shows everybody

Yes, it would be better if it shows names instead of usernames.
