Here's an idea that's very, very possible. Probably not very easy to do though, as it's a community effort.

This is not an idea to improve BTC or to add anything at all, it's something a little different.

In way too many idea topics, that are completely relevant and good, I've been seeing people use the excuse for them to say no as "Because noobs will..."

Face it, people will ALWAYS find a way to abuse a feature or be annoying. And some of you people talk about "noobs," who are just new members getting used to BTC and the Warbears community, as if it's bad that Warbears is getting publicity.

I've seen an unacceptable amount of people say "no this idea sucks because noobs will annoy us by..." so please, can you at least refer to them as people?

Or, am I just getting it all wrong? Are new members not people? Are they soulless wooden chairs that are just waiting to be broken? Well, maybe that chair would be useful to someone some day.
First person to make a joke and say "no becuz noobs will not do it impossible!!!" is very predictable!
I am aware that this may never happen, and this will probably be received as "Not a real idea" just because it isn't about getting new furniture or being able to breakdance, but it is an idea. The community just has to do something for it this time.

I agree. People can abuse fish tanks by giving them offensive names and ghosts by making them curse, but people don't seem to care.

"Noobs" can abuse the ability to speak in BTC. Does that mean we shouldn't be able to speak?

If "noobs" abuse it, they get warned or banned. It's as easy as that.

yea i am sick of a n00b coming into the bar and over use caps and i tell them to stop and they keep on doing it. So a 1 waring and and then a ban is a good idea.

No offense to you or anything Solidus, but this is exactly what I'm talking about.

The word noob should be censored.

It's rude and degrading. The only true noobs make fun of others for being "noobs"

How true that is, Niall. I only voted for the third option, since I'm too bored right now. >.>

But really, I support this whole thread.

I think i know why people use the "noob" excuse.

When we join the site, we are "created virtually"

Many of us have been around for a long while, so we have an idea of what the site is like.

Unfortunately, the more senior members see newbies as bad people because of the amount of spammy topics and their abuse of the forums.

So, they tend to think that 'Noobs" are lesser then them, so that they won't be on the same level as them.

I think everyone who was "created virtually" on this site is equal to everyone else.
Sure, some of us has more responsibility then others, but they have the same amount of rights to be on the site as everyone else.

The derogatory terms/sayings just reinforces this conflict between the classes.

So, stop the name calling and the rest will soon follow.

I like it. Smile

I use noob a lot, but I don't usually call any random newbie a noob.
Only if they're being the image I have in MY mind of noobs.

Y'know, spamming constantly, learning the rules but not following them just so they can pass their time annoying people.

In my opinion, newb = new person. Noob = person below average intelligence.

I do fully support this idea, though.I find it a shame that so many good ideas shall go to waste because "noobs will abuse it".

Well, they will, but atleast it gives me an opportunity to smite them.

This isn't a real idea though... If anything, a step in evolution that most of us decided to skip. Condemning someone else's flaws is the easiest way to find acceptance within a group.

Whether someone is new, old, smart, dumb, wise or a plain hypocrite... those are just minor details of little significance, which we tend to highlight in order to make ourselves look less primitive as a species.

Mh hm. ;3

Yeah, I agree with Silk. Couldn't have said it better myself.
...Well okay, I could have, but not that much better. ;D

YES!

I think that everyone should be treated equally, regardless of of who it is and/or their ranking. Calling everyone who uses the term "Noob", clearly want nobody new to join and I'm quite certain that many people have not come back for that reason. Niall is completely right about making it against the rules.

I'd also like to remind people about the most recent server crash, remember what was being abused... And who it was? Yeah..

I like the noob excuse being banned from suggestions. Mind if I put it in the guide at some point?
