I've been wondering a lot about this idea. I think it'd be nice to have a reputation system on the forum. Since there has been a lot of people doing a lot of great things on Warbears. But there would be a reason to give somebody a plus/minus reputation point.
It might show that you're a good/bad citizen to the community of Warbears.
Any thoughts? Do you like it or not?

Good + or Bad -
No need to post comments or worry about multis.
You get one reputation point per person.
You gain a point with good reputation, and you lose a point for a bad one.
Maybe you can have the option to change it. Say a newbie is starting to become a valuable member of BTC, you could change your negative vote to a positive one.
Reputation points or "karma" isn't based on a post count.
Its just a small addition to your forum profile (which appears on
<-------- side of the threads along with your avatar and post count)
You don't need to have a required post count or award points to use it.
No one will need to spam to get their post counts up or anything. |

I've seen it on many forums and they are either a hit or miss.
For warbears, i think it would be good.
Also, there should be something that appears on your profile like "Haven't been reported in ..." so that people can see if your generally good or not. _________________

But the ranking system is based on your reputation.
And people could give you reputation points, like Neji said, which would raise your rank. _________________

1. It doesn't matter if your idea is based on reputation, it's still a completely different idea.
2. If reputation were to be put in place, I can guarantee we'd have Rep4Rep'ers everywhere (People trading reputation).
3. John, I think the behavior bar is sufficient.
Sure, there'd be a bunch of people using it correctly, but the majority of people would be trading rep. |

maybe once you got so many friends (10-20 +) you get like a bar in the corner of your screen showing your rep' in BTC?
this is a great idea i think ioji should take it into consideration. _________________ I PITY THE FOOL! |

It could encourage people asking everyone to be their friend.
It MAYBE could work though. _________________ So long, everyone. May you all burn in the fiery depths of hell. |

Currently the mods mod BTC, the forums, and profile comments. Adding more work for the mods isn't a good idea since the rep system is easily abusable.
For example take n00bs. If they do something stupid and you downrep them justifiably, they'll retaliate by downrepping you for no reason.
Visual example:
Post 6 in some thread
n00b says: I r smart.
Rep report of n00b:
User 1 (-1): Stop being a n00b!
User 2 (-1): For obvious reasons.
Rep report of User 1
n00b (-1): Well same to you pal!
Rep report of User 2
n00b (-1): Same to you!
EDIT - The only way I'll back a rep system is if the mods ok it and give access to it only to those who have over 100 posts. That will stop alternate accounts being created just to give rep and downrep and stop n00bs from downrepping for no reason. |

They could assing a "reputation" mod, so to say, and let him check for n00bish downreps. They could remove the right to uprep/downrep someone, and all reps the n00b repper has already done is removed if it is.
I like the language we are using here. _________________ So long, everyone. May you all burn in the fiery depths of hell. |

You could just have this:
Good + or Bad -
No need to post comments or worry about multis.
You get one reputation point per person.
You gain a point with good reputation, and you lose a point for a bad one.
Maybe you can have the option to change it. Say a newbie is starting to become a valuable member of BTC, you could change your negative vote to a positive one. _________________

I vote for this variant
Also, i thought the "one rep per person" was obvious. _________________ So long, everyone. May you all burn in the fiery depths of hell. |

rep just shows popularity.
if someone is popular why do they need rep?
and it will cause arguments.
many will complain about nobody repping them.
and downrep? thats pretty harsh....
Warnings do downreps for you. _________________

I've seen this on a lot of forums, and it makes them worse, in my opinion.
I think people should just have reputations for their reputations, not a little chart saying their reputation. _________________
