As has previously been said here that is spot on, if we wanted to give people 'powers' (which isn't the best way to put it because it implies superhero kind of thing which is stupid) because we had too much work, we'd just get new moderators

I'm just saying it would lower the amount of full-blown moderators we need to get going here. It wasn't like a, "Grant any old citizen who fits requirements for the job." type of idea, it could be a very rare thing. Not getting too many people at a time. Maybe even sometimes firing people.

A mod basically has three (types of) powers: BTC (kick/ban) and forum (lock/edit/move) and profile editing (warn/ban/validate). Give one power to someone and you may as well make them a mod. We've enough mods; and not only, we have back-ups for when we need extra help.
