You could just have this:
Good + or Bad -
No need to post comments or worry about multis.
You get one reputation point per person.
You gain a point with good reputation, and you lose a point for a bad one.
Maybe you can have the option to change it. Say a newbie is starting to become a valuable member of BTC, you could change your negative vote to a positive one. |
I vote for this variant
Also, i thought the "one rep per person" was obvious. |
I'll go with that John. Also I think people need to have a certain amount of posts also(I think somebody said that already I don't know who though). Like say 100-200? I'd say 150, since it doesn't seem to take that long to get to 100 posts. _________________ |

Isn't this called Karma on other forums?
Well, I think after 100 posts, you get 10 "Karma Points" which would allow you to raise/lower someones karma, but each person only once. Then each 25 or so posts added on to that 100 would get you 5 more points. |

Wouldn't that boost forum spamming? _________________ Twitter |

Again, the problem of rep4rep'ing has not been addressed.
I vote no. People can just leave a comment on your profile. |

I think the best way to have this would be if mods handed out rep _________________ Join me on HoboWars! |

Well, if you think about it, most people don't spam just to post links, so this would just be kind of a reward for being active in the forums.
I also think that any Karma given out by someone should be removed if they are perma banned. |

It would be far too complicated, and it would overshadow everything else on the forum. People would just be trying to get more rep. It's just a bad idea. |

But it's not like people aren't already trying to overstretch their ego's anyways. |

Then this would just be gas to that flame.

Well... continuing with my idea that i posted earlier.
Reputation points or "karma" isn't based on a post count.
Its just a small addition to your forum profile (which appears on
<-------- side of the threads along with your avatar and post count)
You don't need to have a required post count or award points to use it.
No one will need to spam to get their post counts up or anything.
And if you think that people will create multis just to increase it, they won't.
Why do i know this?
Well the rep points aren't going to be used for anything, its just a little something extra. Why would people want to create multis for that?
If you have problems with this (my) idea, please speak out. _________________

Again, rep4rep has been a huge problem on other forums. Everyone will obsess over it, and a massive amount of Rep trading threads will emerge. Many people will be reaaally pissed off. |

Pancake stop bringing other forums into this. Warbears is different.
Also, I still like that John. _________________ |

I agree that rep4rep might cause a lot of unwanted "events" but i think that could be solved by giving that power only to the moderators AND to citizens the moderators chose (those who they know will not do anything stupid) If someone abuses the reputation system, he/she should receive a bar. rep4rep should be reportable. _________________ check out my youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/23unknown32 |
