Prologue:
It was a cloudy and somewhat chilly day in Asgard, the realm of the gods. Odin, the chief god, had assembled all the gods to their meeting place at the Well of Urd. Nobody had yet been told what the meeting was going to be about, since Odin had said he wanted to keep it secret. The gods were feeling somewhat uneasy as they gathered around the well, as they were wondering if anything serious had happened.
- I hereby declare this meeting opened, said Odin, lifting one hand to greet his companions. I'm glad you were all able to come here, since I've got something very important to tell you.
Odin stopped talking to take a breath. Nobody dared making a sound.
- During the last few weeks, my spies have given me reports that giants seem to be advancing towards Asgard. It's very likely that they are planning to attack us.
- But... it can't be! said Baldr, gasping for air. There's no way they would be able to get through our defenses! We've got walls and towers all over the place.
- Exactly, said Tyr. The giants would be fools to attempt a siege against Asgard. Their only chance to get in here would be if they managed to sneak in some infiltrators to help them get through the gates, and that would be impossible unless one of the gods betrayed us.
Odin sighed, and then he said:
- That's what I was getting at. Yesterday, one of us was overheard handing over information to the giant army.
- What? shouted Freyja. You mean there actually is a traitor among us?
- Then who is it? roared Thor. Hand him over and I will crush his skull with my hammer!
Odin raised his hand and pointed at Loki, who was leaning against the well with a very satisfied look on his face.
- Oh, so I've been discovered already? How unfortunate. But you see, I'm still a few steps ahead of you.
Before anyone had time to react, Loki pulled a strange-looking bag out of his pocket. He opened it, and suddenly everything was covered in thick, black smoke. Thor tried to grab Loki, but he was already running away. When the smoke started clearing, all that could be seen around the well was unfamiliar faces. As everyone was trying to grasp what just happened, Loki's voice was heard echoing above them:
- Good luck finding the infiltrators now! Ha, ha, ha!
Day 1 has started, and will end the 26th of December at 21:00 (GMT). (Long phase since it's Christmas.  )

The Gods
Win by eliminating all the Evil Forces, and killing Loki. Do not know each other's identities, but are allowed to PM players that they trust.
Odin
God of wisdom and inspiration
During each night phase, Odin can use his magic powers to investigate another player. If the investigation is successful, Odin will find out the role of that player.
Thor
God of thunder and society order
During each night phase, Thor can block another player. This player will be unable to use his/her power during that phase.
Baldr
God of light and beauty
By sending me a PM, Baldr can stop the lynching during one day phase. He must do this before the phase ends. (Note that Baldr is the only player who can use his power during a day phase.) If Baldr dies, a funeral will be held during the next day phase (no lynch).
Frigg
Goddess of marriage and motherhood
During each night phase, Frigg may protect another player from death. This player can't be killed, but can recieve other actions.
Tyr
God of valour and warfare
During each night phase, Tyr may protect another player from death in the same manner as Frigg. However, this player will also be blocked from using his/her power.
Freyr
God of fertility and weather
During each night phase, Freyr can watch another player. By doing so, Freyr will find out who targeted that person during that phase.
Freyja
Goddess of love and witchcraft
During each night phase, Freyja can track another player. By doing so, Freyja will find out whom that player targeted during that phase.
Njord
God of the sea and sailors
During each night phase, Njord can switch two other players. What is intended to happen to one will happen to the other instead.
The Giants
Win by having a number equal to the gods, and killing Loki. Know each other's identities, and can communicate via PM.
Surtr
King of the Fire Giants of Muspellheim
Is responsible for sending me the team's kill (along with who will execute the kill). Any other player of the same team can take over this task if Surtr dies.
Fenrir
Monstrous wolf that has broken its fetters
Has a one-shot ability at recruiting another player to the Evil Forces. That player will keep his/her powers. If the recruited player is investigated, he/she will show up as "[role]/Recruit". Fenrir dies if he attempts to recruit Loki.
Jörmungandr
Giant serpent that lies around Midgard
If Jörmungandr is lynched during a day phase, a random player who pointed at him will die as well. This doesn't happen if Jörmungandr is nightkilled.
Nidhogg
Fire breathing dragon that eats corpses
Nidhogg is able to investigate players in the same manner as Odin.
Loki
Wins by being the last player alive.
Loki
The mischievous blood brother of Odin
Loki has one kill each night phase. He kills himself if he doesn't submit a choice, but does not have to kill if there's less than five players in the game. |
Rules:
- The general game rules can be found here.
- There is no maximum number of players, but the gods must be twice as many as the giants. If there aren't enough players to support all the roles, some of the roles will be removed.
- The phases will be about three days long, but I may end them earlier if I get all the votes/actions.
- You are allowed to roleplay.
- The game starts on a Day phase. You are allowed to vote "no lynch" during the first Day phase, but not afterwards.
- You can't lynch vote for yourself.
- When sending me your night action, please title it "Mafia Action" (or something like that). If you don't want to use your action during a night phase, then please send me a pm anyway and say so. I won't read the messages until the phase is over, so if you change your mind you can edit your pm.
- You are not allowed to show screenshots of your role PM.
- If you get killed, you may not share any information with other players.

But is it worth the risk of taking out a key player for no reason by accident?
