My highschool you WERE able too. If you were sophomore or senior with signed permission slip. Reason they stopped that was because two girls got into a wreck in '91 by a semi-truck that ran a red light. This stopped the year before I became a freshman... 
Least I graduated before I got into the newly built highschool. They made a smaller cafeteria from the already small one. LOL HOW DO I LOGIC GUYS.
And no not for money purposes.

Seeing as i have my school planner here i might aswell see what kind of 'stupid' rules we've got
Most of them have already been said but
-"Unatural Haircolour" is not allowed (which is really weird because i've seen a year 7 (i think) girl around school several times with dark purple hair)
-Nail polish is not allowed (this is just annoying for me because i really like wearing nail polish ;n; )
I also kind of think that the "no mobile phones or mp3 players" rule including lunch and break to be kind of silly!
That being said some teachers let us use mp3's when we're doing work like in IT or stuff like that...
But really those are the only ones i can see that are stupid! U_U
Wait i just remembered, we can get a 30 minute detention for forgetting to bring homework even once, and also we can get detention if our uniform isnt correct :I :I

| Off-campus lunch is okay, and you can earn it as early as second semester freshman year. I only go once a week, usually on Fridays. Since they changed some laws here in the US (or at least in Illinois), the cafeteria lunches got a lot healthier and I don't mind them as much anymore. =shrugs= |

i haven't posted on the forums in like a year so hey
at the school i went to girls have to wear skirts, no trousers etc and on non-uniform days you aren't allowed to show shoulders or knees
i hated the skirt rule so much, the teachers even used to measure your skirts and if they weren't the right exact length they called your name out in assembly and sent a letter home to your parents |

It keeps them from wearing shirts with gang symbols and stuff like that

I disagree. If there was no uniform, the rich kids come in wearing all their really expensive clothes, and the kids from poorer families come in wearing knock-off brands, cheap clothing or second-hand clothes. This is exactly the kind of thing somebody looks out for when picking on someone. |
