So, I decided I might as well mark my proper return to the forum, so to speak, by creating a new thread for all things 40K-related, no matter if it's the board game, the roleplaying games, the video games, the books or something else entirely!
So basically, if you don't know what 40K is... basically, it's a dark sci-fi universe with humans, demons and aliens all at war with each other. It's extremely complex and if you want to get into it, I reccommend doing a few Google searches to find some excellent 40K sites... or you can just ask me! That'll do fine as well.
Personally, I play the board game, where I have a Dark Angels army (will post pics later) which I have been collecting for a little over a year now. It's pretty fun, even if it's a bit expensive, and I haven't had the opportunity to actually play yet.
Meanwhile, the Imperial Guard is receiving a new Codex and getting its name changed to "Astra Militarium". I don't know much about this faction game-wise, but I'm sure it'll be great! Eternal Crusade is going to be awesome once it finally releases.
So yeah, if you want to talk 40K, ask me about it or anything else 40K-related, this is the thread for you! No question or discussion topic is too big or too small ...and you shall know no fear. |

My town had a 40K event at a store today. I posted some pictures and a battle report on my Tumblr:
Part 1
Part 2 |

There's a society at my university for hobby games (TCGs, board games, wargaming, RPG's, the like). I've tried everything but the wargames so far, just because the price puts me off - it seems sky high to build an actual army.
Looks like fun, though! |

It is really fun, but yeah, prices (especially from Games Workshop) are SKY HIGH to say the least. |

Tempted to join a few games with the society's army and learn the game - played Fantasy once, a fair few years ago - but it seems a bit dubious to get into it with no intention of actually investing in the game. |

So, for the record, I just got back into Fantasy. Needing to repaint my old army, but should be getting back to playing a few games in the coming months.
I played a round of 40K, seemed good, but less good than fantasy, on the whole. |
