yeah was just an idea on the sake of abusing.
See, if i'm not mean or behaving pervert or racist or whatever, and if i don't even mean to swear, i dont see the point of getting reported.
Plus, I've read the BTC rules, and there's no rule that says 'astericks count as swearing'.
Which makes sense, since putting them means you try to be polite and not to offend the others. |

Putting swearing in asterix make you think your being polite. The way to be polite is to not swear in the first place. |

Yeah, in fact i was trying to be polite. I don't see nothing wrong with that.
Could be that your definition of swearing is different from mine. Mine includes above all the intention to offend someone else, which i didn't. |

That's ridiculous, if you use asterixes you're still insinuating the same thing as if you actually wrote out the word, and everybody knows what you mean, so how is it more polite? _________________

Basically, the meaning of the word still got through, so it was still a swearword.
Next time put all of the letters in asterisks (?), or use 'crapped up' () instead. _________________ look my music |

You would still be able to tell what the word is by the words that preceded it and followed it, as well was the amount of asterisk used, you could still find out what word was used. Maybe it's best to just not swear in the first place. xD _________________ TWO T-shirts!

@Rowena: Ridiculous, eh?... It is polite, since i am taking myself back, as in, not showing words that could hurt people's feelings. Now and what I mean and what people 'understand' are mostly very different things. In many cases, such as this one, you don't even have any influence on it!
Wow, i really think this is a bit over the top.
I can see your point, but just for the sake of objectivity, try to see mine too, please.
The whole point of banning swearing is to prevent people from being insulted or offended, right?
But that was not what i did. Apart from that, anyone who's just a little smart could do it without using any baddy-baddy words at all.
-I didnt insult or offend anyone
-I didn't even address anyone directly or indirectly
-I've made a random comment about my internet connection
-I used letters combined with asteriks, and nobody can truly tell what I really meant, and if i even meant anything at all
-As long as there's no rule that specifically labels asteriks in words as swearing, you can't - in dubio pro reo - prove that i was. |

The fact that you got reported alone shows that you offended somebody. Now the warning's not being taken back, so please leave it. _________________

The fact of me being reported is not the point here. Frankly, i don't care about that, as i actually mentioned already. The point is the fairness and correctness in this matter.
And saying shut up isnt nice either, in case you didn't know.
Now please, if you have something constructive to say, do it, if you don't want to discuss, you don't have to.
So still, in my opinion what happened is neither right nor fair as i explained above. After we learned (or maybe could have) that feeling offended differs from person to person, who is to say what is allowed and what not?
One point for orientation are the rules, which i clearly didn't break.
Another one the mods, although i don't really know how they control the warning and report system.
A problem in my view is that everybody could now walk around and report randomly anything that could relate in any way to what he thinks might be a rule break. More out of boredom than being really offended, maybe. Mostly this is not even necessary because most people don't take an immediate offense, plus they normally stop spamming, swearing etc. if you nicely ask them to.
So the report function could possibly induce to an abuse of a very differend kind of molesting others. In a way that reduces communicating and gives way to arbitrary and pointless defamation of others.
Again, if you don't like what i say, you can keep it for yourself, or, better, discuss my arguments, which i would find really helpful. |
