Since school is starting in a few days and stuff, I remembered that my school has a very stupid rule. The rule is as follows: If our cellphones are visible, teachers have the right to take them. It'd be fine if they could take them when we used them, but now, you can get it taken away for checking what the time is, or changing the song you're listening to. (We are allowed to listen to music during class, provided we start the music before class starts, or, and I'm not kidding, people do this: Walk out of class, go outside where we are allowed to use our phones, change the song and go back to class.) We can even get it taken away for just leaving it on the table. (trust me, they took mine for that once) Of course, there was a sort of rebellion the first day, with people showing off their phones all the time and refusing to give them away when the teachers asked them to (resulting in physical violence from the teachers). One guy took an empty iPhone case and walked by a classroom pretending to talk in it, leading to the teacher rushing out of the classroom to take it, and she was pretty furious at him when it turned out he had tricked her. I can say that there was a huge line to the school reception at the end of the day when it was introduced. This whole thing is in sort of a legal gray area though. According to Swedish school law, teachers have the right to take away cell phones and stuff if it disturbs the class, and they can take it by force. However, is class disturbed by checking the time, changing the song, or just leaving it on the table?
I can add that we are however allowed to use them as calculators in math class.
I also think it's a bit stupid that we are not allowed to have hats indoors. What harm does that do?
So, anyways, do you guys have any stupid rules at your school? |

i can already say right of the bat there is gonna be bucketloads of first world problems right here, just thought i should say that.
also, why are you listening to music in your classes? that sounds so counter productive and distracting; i can barely concentrate when i'm stuck in a room full of schmucks. _________________ ^captincroc |

You can listen to music in class, but not let your phone on the table ? Wow. It's the opposite for me. But I'm not in school, it's college. |

Can you get your phone back? We have a similar rule, but you have to pay $5 to get it back.
We also have the hat rule, too. Not quite sure what that's about. |

No, I presume the teachers will sell it on eBay. _________________ The Bedtime Grapevine |

Yep, and it increases. First offence is $5, then $10, then $15, and so-on. |

Too cheap, at my school if they're confiscated then they get smashed. _________________

At our middle school the rule was "See it, hear it, take it." The high school's pretty relaxed about it, though. I've had mine fall out of the pocket of my jeans before and my teacher blatantly looks the other way which is stupid. We can use them before school, after school, and at lunch. Oh, and we make fun of the middle school rule by calling it, "See it, hear it, smell it, taste it." xD
As for stupidest rule, I'd have to say that if you don't have your id card or you're not back a few minutes before lunch ends, you get locked out and you have to walk around to the main doors (we come in the doors by the cafeteria) and buzz in to the main office and by then you're definitely tardy and you usually get a detention or two. |

I'm not allowed to read my Bible in most classes, even when I've finished work. |

Because school is a place of knowledge. |

Please don't make remarks like that, because it is against the rules, and it is quite offending to me.
