Yup. Another one. My computer speakers aren't working. The computer says their fine, but I'm pretty sure they aren't.
Quick, helpful replies please. |

1. Turn up the volume.
2. Check the speaker wires, unplug and plug them.
3. Try other speakers/headphones.
4. Restart your computer. _________________ Punch a duck |

Oh oh oh I had this problem years ago with an old laptop.
I tried all those steps suggested and it didn't work.
Could've been a virus or the speakers had decided they didn't like Prog Rock anymore.
I just got a new laptop. |

Is it sound overall? Sometimes I've had problems with sound coming through when online, but, say, for instance, a game on my hard drive, the sound is fine. _________________ Twitter |

I had the same problem NOW!
To fix it, just turn it upside-down and break it. |

Uhh... The speakers? But I don't think that is the problem, because it doesn't come through the headphones either. (I test for the sound via the beeping noises that come when I adjust the volume.) |

Either you're being an idiot and it's on mute, you've ballsed up your sound settings or you have a fault with your soundcard. I should remind you that no one here on Warbears is a computer technician so try posting these problems you're constantly having in an appropriate place. |

Uh, no. I mean the source of the sound but by the answers you have given, I'm assuming it's system-wide. In that case, check the output of the sound isn't to anything external such as a Bluetooth speakers (it happens to me sometimes that the sound is transmitted to my parent's laptop via a bluetooth transmitter)
Also check your sound settings are actually making noise.

While you are correct, I'm not a professional by any stretch of the imagination, I honestly don't mind people asking for help with their systems. Well, like, the tech forums isn't really the right place but yeah. I don't mind. _________________ ^captincroc |

You may have already tried this but open system preferences, click sound, and make sure that your output is correctly set. If that doesn't work you may have some kind of faulty component as suggested earlier.
I may not exactly be a professional but I have fixed many computers for myself and others so I would find this forum an appropriate place to post this. _________________
