It's still some degree of physical activity, much more than in chess. The definition of a sport is "Physical activity engaged in for pleasure", according to Merriam Webster. Chess is not a physical activity in the slightest, so it is not a sport. It's that simple.

How much physical activity is qualified as a sport?

Does it matter? There's so little physical activity in chess. You're just picking up a piece and putting it down.

Sometimes more sports use less physical activity than others. Yes, I know chess takes close to no physical activity at all, but I am still sticking with my answer of chess being a sport.

If chess is a sport, then wouldn't many other things be sports that requires strategy and skill? Like puzzles and such?

Sport or game, the best bit is flinging the board into the air when you lose

Or flicking the 'dead' pieces to one side. I love that.

I played a friend of mine on my glass chessboard. He lost, and as he was wiping the pieces off from the board he took the board with it. The pieces were fine, but the board shattered.

Best chess injury: My uncle Fractured my dads Skull because he beat him at it.

Playing on a four-inch thick board didn't help either.
