and to call it a sport there have to be leagues offical leagues to call it a sport and the official league for chess is
USCF

(united states chess federation)

Then how is Baseball a sport? Cricket? Soccer? Sorry but I don't call something a sport just because it's outside or you use your body.

Look at Nascar.

I don't think NASCAR is a sport. It's recreational driving.

Well of course it isn't, it's a corporation that governs the different autoracing. Autoracing, which is a sport.

I thought that's what's implied by the term "Nascar". Nascar racing. I still don't consider that a sport.

I consider chess being a sport. Videogames are a sport. I see most things having official competitions as a sport.
