All my games, mozilla firefox, even some programs I didn't use (like Oxford's dictionary etc. etc.) have an icon of windows media center so I can't use anything of that (I found the way for mozilla). When I click on that icons windows media center always opens (it opens even if I just move with mouse to it-I don't click on it). It happened yesterday when I was pretending to study so when I heard mum I have shut computer down by turning the power off and when I turned up that happened. I just found that paint has a properly icon but it also opens wmc (found the other way too). Here. Please help |

Can you show me where any of the shortcuts is leading?
Right click > Properties and read the 'Target' box.
Also, what anti-virus are you running? I'd suggest setting up a full scan sometime when you won't need the computer to run at it's best.
EDIT: You shut down just by turning the power off? RUN A CHKDSK!!! Don't ever skip it if it comes up when starting!
See here for method! _________________

English grammar in use leads to:C:\Cambridge\EGU\Start-EGU.exe
Oxford's dictionary:"C:\Program Files\Oxford\OALD8"
Mozilla:"C:\Program Files\Virtual Firefox"
OMGZombies:"C:\Program Files\OMGZombies2\OMGZombies2.exe"
Heroes 5:"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\bin\H5_Game.exe"
ESET NOD32 Antivirus
Yes, I shut it down by turning the power off.
I ran CHDSK but nothing happened. |

Leading to...
Mozilla:"C:\Program Files\Virtual Firefox\firefox.exe"
Heroes 5:"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\bin\H5_Game.exe"
OMGZombies:"C:\Program Files\OMGZombies2\OMGZombies2.exe"
Oxford's dictionary:"C:\Program Files\Oxford\OALD8\oald8.exe"
etc. etc. Most of files lead to program files but none of them to wmc.
I use ESET NOD32 Antivirus.
Yes, I shut it down by turning the power off, I ran a CHDSK but nothing happened.
I found out that in other accounts (on the same computer) everything works just perfect.
P.S. Thanks for trying to help |

This is kind of offtopic, but you shut your computer with the shut down button in your screen right? If not, your computer might bug when you have programs and things running. Even those hidden ones. You might want to check your task manager first and delete running programs. Otherwise use it on your screen. You should only turn it off by power if the computer froze or you can't get to the shut down button for a long time. |
