Ok guys, I've been seeing a good deal of 'bad' posting around here lately, a.k.a. backseat moderating (BS modding) and going way off topic.

So...

BS modding: Here's a clarification on what to do and what not to do. In case of spamming, bumping, etc., don't post stuff like "Oooh you gon' be banned" or "Mods lock this now" or "This is going to be locked" or "^BUMP" or "^SPAM". Also, don't say stuff like "I'm really sick of..." or use excessive caps (hypocritical much?) or tell people to do such and such, especially mods. (Seriously, dudes, we're not BLIND or anything.) But you can post stuff like "Go here to learn how to..." or "Please don't..." or simply ignore it (really, guys, it en't that hard to ignore). When a user posts something they shouldn't have, and a moderator has already posted after, don't address it again. I mean, c'mon, we just said!... If no moderator has said anything, be nice, but at the same time, you should only post because you are contributing. You can mention the problem in your post. Try not to post only to tell someone off. We will delete spam topics, and we will also warn for BS modding. Bumping is okay if it contributes to the topic. Note: The topic-maker is allowed to, at any point in time, ask the moderators to lock his/her topic.

Double posting and the likes: If you see someone double-posting, generally you should ignore it. However, it may be okay if you are contributing to the topic and you gently remind the above user to please not double post. For example: "No, I agree that so-and-so should be such-and-such because blah blah blah. And user-above-me-who-has-posted-twice, please don't double post. There's an edit button by your post Wink." Or something polite like that. But don't jump to the opportunity of doing that frequently, either, because mods do deal accordingly with double posting, so it is ultimately unnecessary to do so. When in doubt, resort to a PM.
Also, we do appreciate when a user posts the link to another topic when a poster posts a redundant topic. Just don't post after someone if they've already provided the link; a mod will lock the topic accordingly.

Going off topic: It's fun, sure, but it gets really annoying, especially in topics like the Hurt and Heal. Resort to PMing or other topics.

Posting: Basically, don't spam. This means no posts that have literally, nothing in them. Or quote pyramids Mad. Or posting really strange posts that have nothing to do with anything, or just restate something that's been previously said. Just try to contribute something (useful) when you post. That means, don't just quote a user without saying anything else because you agree with him/her (there's no contribution. I read that already). Additionally, spam topics are no excuse to spam in. You will receive a warning. Do not post in topics that you know will be locked. Do not post in there! Anything but a redirecting link is not helpful.
Note: Do not put "first post!" etc in your posts. That is spam.

In regards to improper English and typing: quit nitpicking; it's annoying and pointless. It's okay to perhaps point out that it's hard to read the user's posting ("Well, I'm not quite sure what you meant, but..." or "It's a little confusing what you meant by...") but don't bash ("You're an idiot because you can't spell and..." or "lok!11! Im so-nd-so cuz i am stupid & cnt typ!1! lolol! i wnt 2 b mod!!!11" or "I'm translating this stupid noob's writing..."). The extent of these comments has seem to grown over the past whenever. It's not clever to correct someone's typing, just because you're so 'superior'. I've seen most of you make lots of grammatical errors; no one's perfect. It's tiring when I see all the pointless posts that just say something to the extent of "Speak in English, noob". Nothing helpful there!

Yeah obviously that's fine, just a bit too frequently about five people will all post in a thread going 'This is going to be locked' or 'This is spaaam'.

Nobody cares, so don't do it.
