Okay then. I am going to try to use the mafia's tricks agianst them. With help of the other townies that are alive.

I'm not 100% sure how the Mafia kill works. When the mafia boss sends the kill to the host, he/she may also tell the host that another mafia member is executing the kill. Is this the same thing as if the pm had come directly from this other player? (E. g. if the boss gets blocked, and not the other player, does the kill still happen?)

Yes~ It's all about who does the kill. The mafia boss role itself is rather useless unless the boss does the kill since the other members could easily send in a PM along with a normal action (if any) to kill someone.

I've been thinking about something that MIGHT improve the mafia game, which I might test out when my turn to host finally comes.

The basic idea is that only how many people in each faction are told, and the role title AND description are kept hidden until death.

That way, people can actually claim to be a townie or whatever role without being busted by the real dude, and posting your role might not work as well as the previous games.

The true fun in mafia games seems to me is the guessing of who might be lynch-worthy, instead of posting everybody's role in a screenshot so the mafia gets filtered out.

Thoughts?

He means that only the number of Townies and Mafia are told to everyone, the role and description are revealed at death. So you'd know that say, there are 5 people in the Townies and 3 people in the Mafia and there are 8 people claiming to be Townies. The fun would be to figure out which 3 are lying.

Do you think it would be possible to have a rule against posting screenshots of role PM's? I was thinking of having that when I host.

One solution used on a frequently mentioned forum is giving the Mafia a randomly selected role PM, identical to a townie role, yet completely false.

Gives the townies something to do.

On that forum, we can monitor PMs so that cuts it down a bit but people will always cheat, the above mentioned solution is all that works (Just don't give them a role that others know from the start!)
