With only three doors and six people, the choice was simple. Two people per door. It meant nobody could have to go alone. Given the deathtraps they had seen earlier, perhaps that was for the best, though none of them knew it would (mostly) prove worthless.

Door 1 - Katz and Jurgen
Katz and Jurgen went together once again, and found themselves in something familiar: An empty hallway without any particular traps or treasures. Perhaps this was for the best.

Katz (0)
Jurgen (0)

Door 2 - Knyh and Marshall

Knyh and Marshall came to meet with the same thing, though internal politics would cause their hallway walk to take a darker turn. During the walk, Marshall accused Knyh of secretly being a lobster, which prompted unspeakable deeds involving large amounts of blood. As far as anyone else knew, Marshall had simply walked into a chainsaw several times over.

Knyh (0)
Marshall (DEAD)

Door 3 - Miniman and Ninjabear

Miniman and Ninjabear also met with an empty hallway, and their walk through it was completely free of chainsaw accidents. The most noteworthy thing about it was that it wasn't.

Miniman (0)
Ninjabear(0)

With one man gone due to "totally not suspicious" circumstances, the survivors gathered in front of another set of three doors. Would their luck keep up, or would someone meet with a terrible fate?

The body count had kept growing throughout the game, and it didn't show any signs of giving up. Neither did the players. After all, if the choice was certain death or less certain death, it was a pretty easy one. After a brief discussion, the survivors had split up once again, in a slightly less even fashion.

Door 1 - Everybody except Knyh

Nobody was sure exactly why Knyh had been so adamant in not going through door 1 this round, though they decided they didn't have time to argue. "It's your funeral," Jurgen commented before they stepped through the door, leaving Knyh alone. Beyond door 1 laid another laboratory. At least, that was what they thought it was. A large metal chair stood in the middle of the room, equipped with leather straps on the armrests and legs. From the ceiling hung cables with electrodes at the end, like a giant mechanical squid reaching down to grab an unsuspecting victim. To make matters worse, there was a large black mark in a two-metre radius around the chair, and the dark red stains that broke off from the black gave some unfortunate implications. A log on a computer screen read "Subject KIA - Overload. No connection established".

Katz (+1)
Jurgen (+1)
Miniman (+1)
Ninjabear (+1)

Door 2 - Knyh

While the other four had their escapade in the lab, Knyh went on his own through door 2. Jurgen's words rang through his head still. It wasn't really an appropriate thing to say at a time like this, Knyh thought. After all, it was a very real possibility. His thoughts would eventually prove correct, when he turned around a corner in the dark hallway to discover that there was a disturbing lack of a floor and an equally disturbing presence of a very long drop with a very hard floor on the other end. The pain from smashing into the concrete was forever gone within just a moment.

Knyh (DEAD)

It turned out that going through the first door had been the wise choice. However, would it be the same next time? Another set of three doors faced the four survivors, and they prepared themselves for another gamble...

Only four remained, after Knyh's fundamentalistic insistence on not going through door 1 had proved to be fatal. With a large majority of the original participants dead, and a game that felt like it was dragging on for far too long and never ending, it was kind of hard to keep the spirits up. Nonetheless, giving up was not an option. Another set of three doors faced them, and yet again they split up.

Door 1 - Katz
Katz faced door 1 in a similar manner to how one must face a gazebo (alone) and stepped through, discovering that the door held.... nothing. No death traps or anything that could help them figure out the rest of the puzzle. Just another empty hallway.

Katz (0)

Door 3 - Jurgen and Ninjabear

Jurgen and Ninjabear took door 3 together, stepping through to discover what seemed to be an empty hallway. The floor opening up to reveal nothing but black abyss beneath was however a pretty good sign that this was NOT just an empty hallway. While Jurgen was lucky enough to dive to solid floor, Ninjabear fell into the abyss, never to be seen again.

Jurgen (-1)
Ninjabear (DEAD)

Indecisive (Miniman)

Miniman had been unable to decide which door he would go through, and stood outside waiting. A sharp pain beneath his bracelet reminded him that waiting too long was not a good idea, and he stepped through door 1. What laid beyond door 2 would forever be unknown...

The three remaining players met up once again, and this time, there would be a door for them each, if they chose to split up that way. Of course, there was always other possibilities...

Because it goes by total score and not door score.

The three remaining participants each went through one of the remaining three doors, with Jurgen choosing 1, Katz 2, and Miniman 3. To their surprise, they found that there wasn't even a hallway behind the doors, and that they all lead into the same room, which was a large, nearly empty one, save for a table in the middle.

On the table laid three handguns, neatly arranged in a line. There were no instructions, but without speaking a word, the men knew what they had to do. Or well, they had a good idea of what to do, at least. Following that realization, everything went by in a flash. The moment Miniman reached for one of the guns, the one next to it found itself in Jurgen's hand, a deafening bang ringing out through the room in the next instance. Blood splattered over the wall and floor near where Miniman had been standing, and before the silence had settled, it was broken again by another bang.

Smoke rose from the gun in Katz's hand, and once he realized what he had done, he was about to drop down on the floor in shock. However, something else grabbed his attention first: The sound of a door unlocking. With him being the last one left, it might very well mean freedom. He'd have time to process what had happened later.

Without thinking, he ran out through the door and up the stairs behind it, eventually finding himself blinking at the sunlight while his surroundings slowly faded into view. He was standing on a small platform, with nothing but ocean around him as far as the eye could see. Another small table stood in front of him, holding a collection of emergency flares, a flare gun, and a piece of paper.

After firing off a flare, he started reading.

"Congratulations! If you're reading this, it means that you've won the game, and brought the Ouroboros Project to completion. You probably wonder what all this means.

The Ouroboros Project was started as a way to finish two instances of a game known as Traps and Treasures. Those two games going uncompleted might have been factors in the incident that lead to the destruction of Bedtime City five years ago.

Many experiments involving telepathic communication, time travel, multiple universes and other unexplored areas of science were conducted to try and lead the game to completion. Perhaps something in reality itself was preventing the game from changing?

To test our theory, we had no choice but to subject you, and your fellow competitors, to Traps and Treasures game of our own and see if it met the same fate. If you're reading this, it is clear it did not, no matter how close it might have been. We apologize for any inconvenience, although we strongly believe in the end justifying the means. Hopefully, by completing the game, your actions will propagate through reality and show that Traps and Treasures can be ended. Whatever sacrifices you made might very well have saved Bedtime City.

One last thing.

If there's three of you: Congratulations! You solved the final puzzle.

If there's only one of you: Did you ever consider that the only condition for unlocking the door was just discharging two guns?

The game is over. Katz won, but at what cost?
